Update
Mariah's is 5 1/2 weeks now. She's just learned to SMILE BACK at us!!! :) :) :) So cool . . . I first thought she did on Sunday, and by Tuesday it was obvious that that was what she was doing. Grandma Ginia was suspicious, but agreed after witnessing it when we went over to visit on Wednesday. Tonight she added her voice (weak laughter) to it! . . . So awesome . . . :)
She also loves to hold things: your finger, burp rag, blanket, shirt, etc. So today I got her one of those little square cuddle/comfort blankie thingies. She held it to her from the second I gave it to her in the store, and still has it now as she sleeps. . . She's been perfect: sleeps well, eats well (and fast), burps easily, alert often, loves to cuddle, doesn't mind noise. She had a little phase where she fought 'bedtime', fussed for 45min - 1 hour at night. But she's already quit that. Perfectly healthy too, no joundice (sp?), no cradle cap; she does have a little rash or baby acne on her chest right now. I should stop, I'll jinx it. Oh, she does have blue eyes, so I'm guessing she'll have blonde hair.
Caleb made his first jealous comment the other night. He wanted me to rock him to sleep, and I said I couldn't. Daddy was gone and I knew Mariah needed to eat soon. He cried, "But Mommy, you hold Mariah all the time." He still loves her to pieces though, they all do. Michael got to show-n-tell her at school yesterday and Isaiah's going to in the morning. . . They all still ask to hold her all the time.
We've started gymnastics up again. Isaiah learned to land his kartwheel on his feet! Elizabeth is still working on hers. Caleb does great somersaults. They all love having their friends over. Michael enjoys those weeks (like Spring Break) when there is no religeon and he gets to join us.
Robert's back at work full time now, he still has to wear the boot (at work only) until his next check-up on April 8th. He says it itches him, gets tired easily, and hurts to walk without shoes. Basically the '6 ms til a full recovery' means mostly that he needs to continue to do all the stretches to build the strength and endurance back up. He can't tiptoe- when he tries to stand just on the left toes, his heel just slowly falls- no strength there, no endurance yet.
I have 1 1/2 more weeks of maternity leave, returning to work on Easter Monday. . . I'm ready and not ready, either way, here it comes. There'll only be 5 weeks of school left at that point, and then I'll have the whole summer again. Do I have big summer plans? 1) Potty train Caleb!!! 2) visit lots of parks 3) swim, play, make daily walks part of life.
Michael's made his first confession and is preparing for his first communion. He's also still really enjoying cubscouts. In fact, he has a busy three day period coming up. Friday, April 16th is his 8th b-day, April 17-18 is a cubscout campout, and Sunday April 18th is his first communion! Amy and Jenny had suggested that I let him choose if he wanted 2 parties or 1 big party, and he chose two (surprise!), so we'll probably have his b-day party on his b-day-Friday night, and then his first communion celebration after the mass (which is noon I think) on Sunday the 18th.
Michael and Isaiah are both signed up for coach pitch and t-ball teams at St. Mark's this summer. Isaiah is enrolled for Kindergarten at St. Mark's. Elizabeth is enrolled to attend preschool at Kidlink (maize and 21st, in Westlink church) on MW&F next year. She is SUPER excited about it.
Well, that's probably plenty for now . . . Love and God Bless to all!

Meet Mariah Lynn Trujillo
Mariah was wide awake here, on her second day out in the world. She's as beautiful as the princesses below her!
She was born on Feb 15th, 2010 at 4:23 am weighing 8 lbs, 4 ozs and was 19 inches long.
The baby came out!
First try at uploading a video . . .
Mariah Lynn Trujillo was born Monday morning, Feb. 15th, at 4:23am. Around 9:30am, Mom and Dad brought the tribe up to meet her. Isaiah's introduction was cute. . .
Having complications- will try again soon.

Baby poll requested
Michael requested tonight that we do a poll about the baby. He said to "email it or do it on that thing where you make the smiley boxes" So here it is! See the poll on the side as to the sex of the baby- I think I did it right.
Then, add a comment to this section answering the other questions.
1) When will the baby come? (my due date is the 12th)
2) How big/long will the baby be?
3) What will we name the boy? the girl?
4) Any other comments you'd like to make- day or night? long or short labor? etc.

Labor Stories- Michael first
So, everyone keeps asking me about the baby, of course. When's it due? Is it a boy or a girl? Are your children normally early or late, etc. And it's gotten me remembering alot about my past 4 labors, so I thought, since I've never done a good job of journaling or anything, that I should write down what I remember now, while it's still refreshed in my mind. I'll just do one at a time, so as not to be toooo boring! :)
MICHAEL'S BIRTH STORY:
We were living in CO, of course. Michael's due date was May 1st, 2002. We did not know if he was going to be a boy or a girl. I was really nauseaus (SP?) the first trimester. My worst day I threw up 7 or 8 times, I went home from work that day. The rest of the time, I worked; I was in my first year of teaching, 1st grade. Sometimes I pushed a trash can into the hall and threw up in it. Sometimes I took the kids out for an extra recess and threw up outside. . . enough of that.
Mom visited once and helped me figure out how to ease my calf cramps, I was bending my knee up to try to massage it relaxed; but I should have straightened it and pointed my toes up! I remember that was a lifesaver! I ate wheat thins all the time, always had a box with me at school. So much so that they told me the baby was going to come out square.
On April 1st, I was having contractions like crazy. My school nurse got concerned and made me lie down in the nurses office. After over an hour of observing my fairly regular, long, strong contractions, she convinced me that I may be in labor and needed to go to the hospital . . . This was significant because when I called Robert and told him I was going to the hospital, he kept saying "Yeah right. April Fool's" I told him over and over and he wouldn't believe me. I finally just said something like: "Ok, I'm going home to get a bag quickly, and going to the hospital. I hope to see you there." I don't really remember how I got home, or when he was convinced, but he did join me somewhere, etiher at home or the hospital. (I know now that I just have braxton hicks like crazy, but at the time, I didn't know any different, and a nurse was telling me to go.)
They sent me home, of course, as Michael's b-day isn't April Fools Day. It jump started our preparations though. We were moving just next door, into a larger apartment in two weekends. Mom and Dad came down to help move. The Friday we started moving, I had my 38 week appointment. Dr. Skyles was concerned because I had high blood pressure and was really swollen, neither of which had been present earlier. I explained that we were moving and she ordered me to not touch a box. Not exactly complete bed rest, but close enough. She wanted to check me on Monday, and said that if my hypertension didn't go down, she may induce. Anyways, we got moved and I felt better. Mom and dad had to go back, so we went. . . somewhere . . . on Sunday, and my blood pressure was down, and it was obvious my swelling was down, so they went home.
Monday, April 15th, I went back to work. At 5 mins until the end of day bell rang, I felt like, well, like I really, really needed to get to a bathroom. Finally I went to the office bathroom and asked my secretary to send someone to my room to finish dismissing my kids. Before I knew it, there were 10 women outside the bathroom door asking how I was, if my water broke, etc. I went to the hospital and sure enough, I had a slow leak water break. Poor mom and dad, moved all weekend, drove until early Monday morning, worked all day Monday, then got right back into the car to drive the 8 hours back again. Amy says that Mom almost left dad because he wanted to jump into a quick shower before getting into the car . . .
Meanwhile at the hospital, I asked if I could avoid the stimulants, so long as the baby was in no danger, and just wait it out so that my parents could make it. Around midnight my plan to go without an epidural was abandoned, and then I slept well! :) Mom and dad arrived in some kind of record time, and were there well before Michael arrived.
(I have to pause and ask Robert details here beacuse he remembers the numbers, times, weight, etc. much better than I do.)
Michael was born at 6:27am, he weighed 6 lbs, 7 ozs, and was ? 19 inches long. Full head of dark hair. My doctor wasn't delivering because she had been on call the entire 24 hours previous and the new doctor didn't know that I didn't know the sex of the baby. I remember when he crowned and she said "There's a full head of black hair" that I thought "I knew it was a boy" but didn't say anything (I was too afraid to guess- and in TOO MUCH PAIN at the time). When he was born, no one said anything to me for what seemed like forever!!!! I had to ask "IS IT A BOY OR A GIRL?" and they finally answered boy and passed him to me . . . :) :) :)
Well, I think that's long enough. . . . Please comment adding any details you remember, things I don't know, or even correcting mistakes I may have made! :) Thanks! ~Nicole

Random Thoughts for today
When I picked the kids up at Ms. Carol's today, she told me that all morning the kids (2,3, and 4 years old) had the same song stuck in their heads that they kept singing over and over again . . . Pants on the Ground!- Cracked me up! (Google American Idol and that title if you don't know it.) She said that Elizabeth knew the most words, and Caleb has been singing just one line all night now "you're hat on sideways" and he does a little head tilt with it . . . :)
3 1/2 weeks to go . . . Stress gives me contractions . . . Robert has ditched his crutches this evening and has been walking IN HIS BOOT but nothing else all night . . . CONTRACTIONS!!! But, it's not paining him, and the dr said that he could do that supposedly- I didn't go to the last appointment. I'm going this Friday! :)
Michael's pine wood derby car is almost complete. Tonight they sanded and painted two coats.
Today, for the second time, I found Elizabeth on the toilet with a book, just browsing. They are not in the bathroom, so this is a premeditated decision! :)
Isaiah likes to lay with/on me on the couch or in bed, tonight he told me why: "You know why I like to lay on your bottom? Because it's so soft, and so big." :) Glad I could be of service! :) Ah, how loved I am! :)

Cupid's 9 wk appointment
I had my first official drs appointment for baby Cupid today. I took the kids (& Courtney for help!) so that they could see the baby in my tummy.
The wait from the nurse to Dr. Depew was a little long for them, but we made it. :)
The sonogram picture is not as impressive as Baby Mac's sono, being that Cupid's only 2.25 cm long right now, but here SHE (my guess) is. From left to right it's feet, body, head. The bright white line is the spine developing. (Dr. Depew didn't say this, but I'm pretty positive, I'm getting pretty good at reading these things. :) Robert says spinal cord too.)
I suppose it could be the umbilical cord too . . . I'm pretty sure that's in place already-- Lord knows this baby's been forcing me to eat nonstop! I've already gained 8 pounds! We saw the heart pulsing and heard the heartbeat too, as recorded on this picture. For those interested, since many like to make their guesses based on the heartbeat, Cupid's was 172 beats a minute today, fast to normal for this stage of development- no worries. :)
So, what's the due date? Well, the first sonogram measurement (sack only, not baby, therefore too early to be too accurate they say) said 2-15, today's sonogram baby measurements said 2-10, if you just do the math, it's 2-12. (But 'the math' is based on a normal cycle, and mine's always long). Dr. Depew is officially going by 2-12 just because it was what he had originally written down, and he doesn't change it unless measurements show several days difference.
But with my longer cycle and my previous birth histories:
Michael- 2 wks early, due to CO altitude
Isaiah- 5 days overdue
Elizabeth- 3 days overdue
Caleb- 1 day overdue
I'm sticking with Valentine's Day. . . I should probably tell my self AFTER Valentine's Day, so that I'm not discouraged when it takes that long. . . Been feeling good, just SUPER HUNGRY, more tired than usual, more emotional than usual (another hint that it's a girl- with Elizabeth I was horribly emotional, they say it's the extra 'girl' hormones), OH- and a SUPER NOSE nose! Ugh, I can smell myself all the time, and if I put on more deodorant, the smell of it makes my stomach curl too!
Be sure to ask the kids about seeing the baby kick, they were excited!

More 'nack? More 'nack pease?
It's always been cute how Caleb asks for food. He always says 'nack for snack.
Tonight though, it was especially nice to hear.
I'm in inservices again this week, and Chelsea was watching them today. She called me at 11:00 and said that Caleb was still sleeping, (or rather, sleeping again) but that he'd thrown up a couple a times. She didn't want me to come home, just wanted to know if I wanted her to give him any medicine. She's such a trooper! I left immediately. I found him lying on the couch and her playing cards with Isaiah and Elizabeth, having cleaned up all the mess already. . . . (Micahel was playing wii.) He wasn't even excited to see me, he just looked up at me, from the couch, pale and eyes half closed. He didn't even reach for me, smile, nothing, he just laid there. . . He threw up two more times while I made lunch. No fever, so I didn't give him anything. He hadn't had anything to eat/drink all morning so I offered him crackers and water. He ate them and started to get a little color back. I finally got a smile from him.
Anyways, Robert got off early so that I could go back to my inservice. I got home (Caleb napping again, but hadn't thrown up any more! :) ) and ran Lizziebear to gymnastics. When I got home again, Robert said that Caleb had two bowls of Ramen noodles and 7 crackers. Apparently that wasn't enough 'cuz Caleb ran up to welcome me saying, "Mommy, I found you. I found you. I want 'nack. I want 'nack." So I gave him a bowl of goldfish.
Nice to see that smile again!
Then he wanted "More 'nack" so I refilled his bowl.
He started really cheesing it for the camera.
"More 'nack" this time I tried a cheesestick. Now he's completely happy and unable to fill his belly. I don't know if he's starved 'cuz he didn't really eat all day, or if he's just ecstatic that his tummy feels good again. . .
He's sitting right here beside me on the couch, twisting my hair, saying "Mom, I sitting by you" and "More 'nack?" still! I won't give him anymore 'cuz I don't want to push it. . . . He'll be 2 years a week from tomorrow . . .

Apparently Courtney really wore Elizabeth out today.
We went to go get her for supper, and here's where we found her

Worst Day (condensed)
I'm just in AWE and disbelief still. Yesterday was definately a day I'll remember. The boys are 7 & 5 and should be able to be trusted out of my sight for a little while . . . right? Apparantly not. They are grounded all day today. Take a guess as to which one or more of the following events happened yesterday to make me deem it the worst day in a long time.
1) The boys went outside while I was making lunch, found out how to turn on the pump for the well. When I went out to call them in for lunch, I found them sopping wet from head to toe with a full baby pool and water all over the ground.
2) The boys figured out how to take the screens off their bedroom window, got the dry spaghetti from the kitchen, and threw it all over the roof outside their bedroom window.
3) Elizabeth and Caleb tore down the very-old-and-needing-to-be-replaced-anyways curtains and rod in their bedroom.
4) The boys decided to sneek into the kitchen and get themselves a snack- sugar, plain and straight from the dispenser, and sunflower seeds, still in the shell.
5) Everyone of the kids refused to take a nap. I fought them, kept them in their rooms, separated them, threatened, spanked, ignored, re-separated, etc. for over an hour before I gave up. I'd bet that not one of them ever even cloesd their eyes.
6) The boys decided to take a bat and beat holes in an extra piece of sheetrock Daddie had in the garage.
7) The kids all decided to pump a bunch of soap into the bathroom sink, plug it, and run the water, filling it with water and bubbles until Mommie came in and found them, preventing overflow onto the floor.
Wow. So, which one(s) did the boys do to deem it the WORST DAY in awhile?
1 & 5?
3, 4, & 7?
3, 4, 5 and 6?
Go ahead, reread and make your guess . . .
Would you believe me if I said
ALL OF THE ABOVE!
Yeah, really! I'm not that creative, EVERY ONE of those events is true, and they all happened yesterday; more specifically, yesterday between 11:30 and 5:00.

Sometimes you just have a Whoopsie!
Last night at gymnastics, Elizabeth did a great job. She didn't cry the whole time and she got a chocolate Frosty from Wendy's after it was over (the two may have been related . . . )
The conversations that Ms. Mary had with the kids were absolutely precious; well, really it was just the kids' comments, but Ms. Mary deserves the credit for valuing language and encouraging it as she does.
Last week, Elizabeth had been asked to be the . . . model . . . demonstrator . . . IDK what's the best term here. When they move to the Dalmation room (obstacle course room), Ms. Mary explains the details of what to do (basically it's the same- same path, same skills- each time, but they throw a theme into it- sports or ocean or something) and she picks a child to DO what she's explaining to help the kids understand/remember it better. Anyways, so before we went last night, I was pepping Elizabeth up, telling her how well she did last time, that I thought she could go the whole night without crying (and maybe I mentioned that chocolate Frosty here), and what a good helper she'd been in the Dalmation room for Ms. Mary last time. . . She was excited and even though she fell asleep on the ride in there (bad day- no one napped- see Worst Day posting), she stayed in a good mood, and didn't cry the whole time. She was even outgoing enough to ask Ms. Mary if she could help in the Dalmation room again, so she got to.
"Sometimes you just have a Whoopsie" is the phrase Ms. Mary uses when you don't quite do a trick right, fall down, whatever. Elizabeth had a couple "Whoopsies" last night, she couldn't get her kartwheel right (really she's not even close), she slipped off the zipline before making it to the pit. Each time she did, she said "Sometimes you just have a Whoopsie" with the cutest, most innocent, unbothered face. She repeated that phrase over and over all night, even after we left and while we were shopping for groceries before going home. It was really cute . . . then again, after the day I'd had, maybe I was just euphoric to only have one child with me and be able to enjoy her as I should . . .
So, how many of you thought, after reading the title, that this was going to be an inappropriate title for posting about my pregnancy? Be honest.

I haven't gotten everyone called yet, but . . .
We're expecting another baby! Right around Valentine's Day. Are we excited? yes. Stressed and overwhelmed? yes. Reprioritizing everything? yes.
Several people have told me that I need to post the conversation we had when we told the kids, so here it is:
On Father's Day, after our bedtime prayers, we asked the children, "What would you say if we told you that Mommy had another baby growing in her tummy?"
"Liar!" was Michael's gut response. (I say this to him when I know he's teasing me.)
"Why do you say that?" I asked him.
"Because you and Daddy always say that 'Four kids is PLENTY' " he responded with a cute, mimicing exaggeration of the word plenty.
Robert and I smiled and laughed. "Well, yes, but sometimes God just gives you another baby anyways." I responded. "Isaiah, what do you think?"
"I think I want it to be a boy." Isaiah says. Michael was still looking at me speculatively.
"Elizabeth, what do you think?" I asked. She walked over to me, looks at my tummy and then looks at me and says,
"There's a baby in there?" I nod. "Can I give it a hug and a kiss?" she asks.
"Yes" I answer. So Elizabeth bends down and gives the baby her first hug and kiss.
Isaiah interrupts and says, "Actually, I think we have enough boys around here, I think it should be a girl." Which is my guess too. Caleb was just mosying around, going from one lap to another, one chair to another. He's not very good about sitting for the Bible story and prayer time yet.
Michael continued to doubt us, so I asked Robert to go get my sonogram picture. Robert shared it with Michael and though there's really nothing you can see in it, Michael's seen them before, and it was enough to get him to believe us. However, he remains uncommented about his opinion.
A couple days later at family night, I asked Michael if he'd like to make our announcement to the rest of the family during the before meals prayer; his answer: "No, let Isaiah. He's more excited about it than I am." Isaiah was thrilled to make the announcement and did so very nicely.
So . . . a request: I don't like saying "it" for a whole pregnancy, and I don't want to find out this time (haven't talked to Robert about that yet). While my guess is a SHE, I also don't want to say that throughout and be wrong, so I was trying to come up with an inutero nickname like Amy's cute 'Boo' for her Halloween-due baby. Anyone got any good ideas for a Valentine's-due baby? or a fifth-due Trujillo?

Happy 5th Birthday Isaiah!
Happy Birthday Isaiah! I can't believe that you're 5 years old today! And for some reason you LOOK older today as I'm preparing these pictures . . . it's probably my mind p
laying tricks on me. . . You still have your ornery as ever smile though!
So, the party started as most Trujillo birthday parties do, with Mark and Jenny coming over early to help decorate the birthday cake/cookie in this case. (And, they weren't all that early today, but since they were registering for their due-in-3-weeks- baby that they just found out about YESTERDAY (YEAH!), I guess that was excuseable . . . :) )
Isaiah had been discussing a dinosaur birthday forever, then it changed to Transformers and "octimus rime". However, when we went to the store, he decided upon Star Wars, (mostly because mommie let him get a mask and an inflatable light saber -which, BTW, we didn't even make it around to inflating- to go with it). We decided the cookie should NOT have all that black icing on it, and should simply say "Happy 5th Birthday!"

As you can tell, the birthday child always gets to help with the decorating,
and they love every minute of it!
and they love every minute of it!
And Mark always "does the icing" . . . This translates to: s
quirts remaining icing STRAIGHT INTO OUR MOUTHS!

Thanks Jenny and Mark for taking time today to help with this again! I know you had alot on your minds and to do lists today. Thanks for taking the time to make Isaiah's day extra special!
Then we went on to the opening of the gifts. He got several things, and we've played with most already. He tried on his shoes and said, "There's even room for my toes!"

When we asked him at supper, what his favorite gift was, he didn't really pick one. Instead, he just listed them all off. I was impressed that he remembered them all, and surprised that he didn't really have a favorite. . .

I love their faces as they tried to figure this one out.
Then it was time for blowing out the candles. (Thanks Amy for picking up my camera for this!) He was all business at the beginning.

But then, he didn't really like the candles Grandma Cheryl gave us to use. They said Sparkler Candles. Elizabeth said that it looked like fireworks on his cookie and Isaiah said "I don't want any of those like that." Well, his face says it all really . . .

Then he warmed up to them.

And blew them out with only a little difficulty.
Finally, at supper we asked if he had a good birthday today. He said, "Well, no, 'cuz Daddie gave me too much cookie and ice cream" with a completely serious look on his face.

We can never win!
I forgot to mention earlier, he's been counting down for awhile now, checking the calendar. Two days ago, he informed me that he was saving his K-State shirt for his birthday party. I was impressed that he had given it so much private thought and planning. I didn't realize 4 year olds did that. Anyways, point is, he was really anxious for his birthday and party, and he really was looking forward to it. Thank you again everyone, for the card and gifts, and for celebrating his birthday with him. He had a great day!
